# Cast your vote

> Vote for a party in a World Republic test election.

Follow these steps to vote for a party in an open test election. Once you are verified it takes a few taps, and you get one vote per election.

## Prerequisites

* A World Republic account, signed in
* A completed face verification — see [Get verified](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/quickstart/get-verified.md)

You can start without either. Signed out or not yet verified, the election's button reads **Verify to vote**, and it takes you through signing in and the face check before anything is cast.

## Steps

**1. Open the active election**

Open [worldrepublic.org](https://worldrepublic.org). It opens on **Home**, and the card at the top is the current election — a **Live** tag means voting is open. Tap the card to open the election and see the parties **On the ballot**. The **Elections** tab lists every election: **Open now**, **Upcoming** and **Past**.

**2. Choose a party**

Tap **Cast your vote**, on the Home card or on the election page. A sheet headed **Select one party** lists the ballot. Search by party name, leader or description, or scroll the list, and tap the party you want.

The filter button beside the search box opens **Filter**. **Hide spam** is on until you turn it off: it leaves out parties an automated review flagged as spam and parties it has not reviewed yet. Turned off, they appear tagged **Spam** or **In review**, and they can be voted for like any other. **Only AI governance parties** shows just the parties whose name or description says what they want for AI; it is off until you turn it on.

You can also vote from a party's own page: **Vote for this party** skips this step.

**3. Review your vote**

Tap **Review vote**. The screen headed **Confirm your vote** shows the election and the party you picked.

**4. Consent and cast**

A vote shows your political opinion, so it is counted only with your explicit consent. Above **Cast vote** is a box that reads **I consent to World Republic processing my vote, which shows my political opinion, to count it in this election.** It is empty in every election — tick it, then tap **Cast vote**. Nothing is recorded until you do. With the box empty, **Cast vote** sends nothing and the box shakes.

**How your vote is handled**, under the button, opens the part of the [Privacy Policy](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/legal/privacy) about votes.

## Outcome

> [!TIP]
>
> **Success!** The app shows **You voted**. Your ballot counts from that moment, and the election page shows the full result once the election ends.

## Troubleshooting

> **You are signed out, or not verified yet**
>
> Signed out, **Verify to vote** opens the sign-in sheet — **Continue with passkey** or **Continue with Google** — and carries on by itself once you are signed in.
>
> Not verified, it takes you to the face check inside the app: two boxes to tick, then a short camera scan. There is nothing to install and no code to scan with another device. When it passes, the screen reads **You are verified** — tap **Continue**, and your ballot reopens: at **Confirm your vote** if you had picked a party, or at the list if you had not. You still tick the consent box and tap **Cast vote** yourself. [Get verified](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/quickstart/get-verified.md) covers the other outcomes a scan can have.
>
> The ballot is kept for half an hour, and only if you started from an election or a party. Verifying from the **Menu** tab carries no ballot — go back to the election and vote.

> **No election is open right now**
>
> An **Upcoming** tag means voting has not started yet; the card shows when it does. You cannot vote early.
>
> If you are not verified, an upcoming election offers **Get ready to vote**. It runs the face check, not a practice ballot, so you are ready the moment voting opens.

> **You already voted**
>
> One account gets one vote per election. Once you have voted, the election's button gives way to **You voted in this election**. If you voted on another device and try again here, the app answers **You already voted** and changes nothing. There is no way to move or withdraw a vote.

> **You did not get a confirmation**
>
> A slow or dropped connection can lose the answer after the vote has already been recorded. The app says it couldn't confirm whether your vote was recorded. Tapping **Cast vote** again is safe: if the first one landed you are told so, and if it did not, this one counts.

> **Withdrawing your consent**
>
> **Menu** → **Verification** → **Withdraw my vote consent** records the day you withdraw it. Votes already counted stay in their party's total: your choice is not stored with your account, so it cannot be taken out on its own. Every new vote asks for consent again.
