# World drachma

> The World Republic's digital currency.

The **world drachma (WDD)** is the World Republic's currency — what party subsidies are paid in, and what the citizens who receive them can withdraw onchain, to a wallet they control. It is a token on public blockchains rather than a balance held by a bank or a government. Making it a vehicle for global redistribution is our political aim. That is an aim, and it is not a statement about what WDD will be worth.

> [!WARNING]
>
> **WDD has no guaranteed value.** No government, bank or reserve stands behind it. We do not undertake to buy WDD back from you, and we do not undertake to exchange WDD for money. Its value can move in either direction, and you can lose the entire value of your WDD. WDD is not offered as a security, as an investment, or as a financial instrument, and it is not offered as a way to make money. Section 8.1 of the [Terms of Use](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/legal/terms) sets this out in full.

## Tokenomics

The allocation of the total **4 billion WDD** supply (2 billion on World Chain and 2 billion on Base Chain) is designed to prioritize the community and long-term sustainability.

| Category | Allocation | Purpose |
| :- | :- | :- |
| **Community** | **50%** | Party subsidies, ambassador rewards, basic income, and savings interest. |
| **Treasury** | **25%** | Long-term R\&D, grants, and operational expenses. |
| **Investors** | **10%** | Seed and private funding. |
| **Core team** | **10%** | Founders and early employees. |
| **Liquidity** | **5%** | DEX liquidity. |

Three of those have closed: basic income, the savings account and the Ambassador Program. What they paid out stayed with the citizens who received it, and ambassador rewards already awarded are released on their usual schedule.

## Distribution model

WDD reaches citizens through elections. One route pays out today, worked out from an election's results after it closes and vesting over the 12 months that follow.

> **[Party subsidies](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/building-blocks/party-subsidies.md)**
>
> Parties earn WDD for the seats they win

## Two chains

WDD exists on two public blockchains, World Chain and Base Chain, at the same contract address on both.

Which chain you use does not change what you earn: subsidies are calculated in WDD alone, with no chain in the formula. The chain decides only where your tokens land when you withdraw.

There is no bridge between the two networks — deliberately, while the Base Chain market matures — so WDD on one does not become WDD on the other. A bridge is planned once the platform's governance and party structures are established.

## Balances and withdrawals

Rewards are recorded inside the app rather than on a blockchain, and vest second by second into a single balance with no chain attached to it. The **Wallet** section appears in **Menu** once you have received WDD.

Withdrawing asks you to choose a **Network**, World Chain or Base Chain. A minimum withdrawal amount applies, and the app shows it on the withdrawal screen. Most wallets show WDD only once you add it manually, on the chain you withdrew to, using the contract address below. The [Terms of Use](https://docs.worldrepublic.org/legal/terms) set out how balances and withdrawals are treated.
